Baseball Brings Generations Together at Dobbs Ferry Senior Center

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. — The Dobbs Ferry Senior Center was filled with smiles, laughter, and friendly competition this afternoon as student-athletes from the Mercy University baseball team joined local seniors for an intergenerational afternoon of baseball trivia, organized by Dobbs Ferry senior Marty Heller.

The event, which encouraged connection and community through a shared love of the game, was a huge success. The Mercy Mavericks impressed everyone with their enthusiasm, kindness, and sportsmanship as laughter echoed throughout the room.

"A great time was had by all! These young men are truly outstanding representatives of Mercy University," said Abby Connett, Senior Advocate at the Dobbs Ferry Senior Center. "We were all so impressed by their energy, respect, and genuine interest in engaging with our seniors. Mercy should be very proud of them!"

"We are very proud of our student-athletes and their commitment to community service," said Mercy University Assistant Vice President for Athletics Matt Kilcullen Jr.

The afternoon wrapped up with plenty of smiles, stories, and shared memories between generations. Plans are already underway to explore additional intergenerational and village collaboration opportunities.

The Dobbs Ferry senior community expressed its sincere gratitude to Mercy University for its ongoing partnership and commitment to community engagement.

"Thanks to Mercy University for being such a wonderful community partner in so many ways," added Abby. "Your support means so much and is deeply appreciated."
